Adult support a child in a classroom

Does your child experience difficulties in the classroom? Have you been informed of your child’s unusual behaviour at school? Did you know that these classroom behaviours can stem from unsupported sensory processing differences? The answer could be sensory behaviour, where you’d child is experiencing sensory processing differences.

Following the launch of the Sensory Help Now Service last year, Sensory Integration Education (SIE) is excited to announce a new training service for schools called Sensory Inclusive Schools (SIS). The SIS service delivers high-quality sensory processing training and ongoing support from qualified sensory integration-trained therapists.

Did you know that 1 in 6 students struggle with sensory processing differences that significantly impact their learning and enjoyment of school? Identifying and addressing these challenges is crucial for improving educational outcomes and enhancing students' overall well-being.

If your child is that 1 in 6, it’s important that their school is educated on what sensory-friendly changes they can make to help your child overcome any barriers they face. Below are some examples of what sensory-based behaviour can look like:

  • Sensory overwhelm

  • Fidgeting

  • Struggle to focus

  • Poor organisation

  • Sensory seeking

  • Dysregulated emotions

  • Poor coordination and balance

  • Difficulty with transitions

SIS has been created to support schools and educational settings that are striving to create a more inclusive learning environment. SIS not only provides valuable training but also fosters a supportive community for educators seeking to enhance their understanding and implementation of sensory-friendly practices. The SIS  service will empower schools to support all children and their needs with on-demand online learning resources, an online forum moderated by therapists, downloadable resources and so much more.

If you know your child’s school could benefit from this service, sharing this information is a step towards shaping a more sensory-inclusive future in education.
