Does Any of This Sound Familiar?

When everyday life feels harder than it "should" — for your child or for you — sensory differences are often part of the picture. You might recognise:

  • Meltdowns and feelings of overwhelm
  • Always on the move, or always seeking input
  • Sensitivity to noise or bright lights
  • Balance and coordination feel tricky
  • Strong food preferences and a small range of safe foods
  • Hard to settle to sleep
  • Strong clothing preferences or uncomfortable seams and tags
  • Teeth brushing, washing, or getting dressed feels stressful
  • Anxiety in busy or crowded places
  • Toileting feels uncomfortable or anxiety-provoking
  • Finding it hard to move from one task to the next
  • Fine motor tasks like fastening buttons feel effortful

If you're reading this thinking "yes, that's us" — you're in the right place.

Jessica confirmed that I really need to sort out my son's constipation/bowel issues before putting into practice what she taught. However I will start using some of her tips as a preparation and to complete what I have been doing until now to make my son less anxious about toilet time. I would really need a course about public toilets. My son keeps telling me he wants diapers as toilets are not always available, they are dirty, have bad smell, etc. So I am aware that public toilets, once we manage to deal with home one, is going to be a much more difficult challenge.

Great course

Jen Mountjoy

This was a great starter course to gain further understanding on sensory integration and the difficulties children may have. The strategies are useful and easy to adopt into everyday practice.

Good as an entry level introduction

Katie Hatton

I was looking forward to doing this course as I am interested in the subject- I would love to learn more as it is only a basic introduction but is very well put together and very accessible.
